Fourteen Tuesdays

Hello ~(^-^)~ We have to read a book called 'Tuesdays with Morrie'. I think it's a good book (not that I've read the whole thing), because it has a lot of lessons and cool shiz. If I had the chance to meet Morrie, I would want to meet him. I'm willing to go back to his house everyday just to talk about life in general. I think Morrie and I would get along pretty greatly.

I like how Morrie looks into life even if he's dying. He would still listen to other people's problems even if he has problems of his own (which is mainly, dying). The book actually made me realize a whole load of amazing crap. I'm not done with it, but it's really amazing from the previous parts I've read. They talked about aging, money, death, family, emotion, etc.

Their talk about death and aging were one of my favourites (as of now). (I'm just gonna put down my fav. parts about that general part (death and aging).

----------- The Fourth Tuesday -----------

"The truth is, Mitch," he said, "once you learn how to die, you learn how to live."
       I nodded.
"I'm going to say it again," he said. "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." He smiled, and I realized what he was doing. He was making sure I absorbed this point, without embarrassing me by asking. It was part of what made him a good teacher.

------------

"Because," Morrie continued, "most of us all walk around as if we're sleepwalking. We really don't experience the world fully, because we're half-asleep, doing things we automatically think we have to do."
And facing death changes all that?
"Oh yes. You strip away all that stuff and you focus on the essentials. When you realize you are going to die, you see everything much differently.
He sighed. "Learn how to die, and you learn how to live."

------------

"Well, the truth is, if you really listen to that bird on your shoulder, if you accept that you can die at any time--- then you might not be as ambitious as you are."
       I forced a small grin.

------------ The Seventh Tuesday -----------

"And, in addition to all the miseries, the young are not wise. They have very little understanding about life. Who wants to live every day when you don't know what's going on? When people are manipulating you, telling you to buy this perfume and you'll be beautiful, or this pair of jeans and you'll be sexy---and you believe them! It's such nonsense."

------------

"How can I be envious of where you are---when I've been there myself?"
